... but few are willing to do anything for her... live, work, suffer, and even give their life.
-St. Maximilian Kolbe
The heart of the Immaculata has been pierced by a sword - the sword of truth, the sword of the Gospel, which lays bare the hearts of all men. Perhaps this is the reason why so many hesitate to enter. We become vulnerable when confronted with her Immaculate purity, and the taste of the truth is often bittersweet... we are sinners and we need God. It is bitter to be sinners; it is sweet to need God.
In the Heart of the Immaculata we are transformed. Our wounds are cauterized. Our gaze centered on the Son. Our dreams realigned to His will. It is bitter to see our plans slip through our fingers and to feel the scars of our iniquity in our souls; it is sweet to be healed and gaze on Love. It is sweet to discover that our plans and our wounds, our inadequacy and our weakness - are healed, transformed into stepping stones to our salvation
In the Heart of the Immaculata it no longer matters to us how we feel - without sweet consolations, zealous songs springing from our own hearts, and intoxicating joy motivating our steps. We no longer worry when we do not feel that she is our dearest Mother, our greatest Companion. Because, heart in heart, life in life, hand in hand - we know that we are being perfected for the King. We know that we are being protected for the King. We know that we love Her, want to serve Her, and desire that she reigns in our hearts as Queen for the Glory of God.
The Total Consecration is a mutual self-giving relationship with the Immaculata. It is not about numbers, feelings, or temporary success. Total Consecration to the Immaculata is about entering her heart, opened for us by the sword of Truth, and not worrying about a thing.
