The Immaculata: Are we taking this too far?

So much remains to be said of her! But, perhaps for some all this talk of the Immaculata is too much... or perhaps deep down we sometimes feel a twinge of guilt for giving her so much attention. Even St. Maximilian's Friars often did, so don't be troubled! Before moving on to wrap up the meditations in preparation for her feast with some jewels of Franciscan and Kolbean thought, I share with you the encouraging words of Pope Paul VI.

Beatification Homily, October 17, 1971

"No one should disapprove... if Blessed Maximilian and the Church together with him show such enthusiasm for the formal veneration of the most Blessed Virgin; this enthusiasm will never be too great considering the merits and the advantages we can dervice from such veneration, precisely because a mysterious communion unites Mary to Christ, a communion that is documented convincingly in the New Testament.  Never let us think this as "Mariolatry"; we know that the sun will never be dimmed by the light of the moon; and never will the ministry of salvation entrusted to the Church's solicitude in particular be impaired, if the Church is faithful to honor in Mary her most exceptional Daughter, and her spiritual Mother."
