St. Maximilian once said, "If angels could be jealous of men, they would be for one reason: the Holy Eucharist". Behold, the reason why the angels - in the times before time - hated the Immaculate Conception (Revelations Chapter 12). She, mortal woman, was united intimately to God. In the person of Mary Immaculate the unity was so intense, so complete, that it conceived a child: Emmanuel.
This Emmanuel, Jesus our Lord, comes to us every day in the Mass. We must prepare for Holy Communion in prayer and surrender, so that when Emmanuel is raised unworthily before our eyes and we hear the unfathomable words: Body of Christ, we might reply with the humble faith of the Immaculata. Amen. I believe - and may it be done unto me according to Your word.

"O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you, and for those who do not have recourse to you, especially the enemies of the Holy Church and those recommended to you."
