God Remains
In today's Gospel we are reminded of the world's inability to recognize Christ and His plan. Like those before us we may see God's plan as too hard, too austere, too foreign to us. At other times, at the other extreme, it is too weird, too trend-breaking, too uncomfortable. Yet, we are reminded that John the Baptist did not eat or drink and Jesus dined with sinners. His ways are mysterious, and it is specifically through their mystery that they lead us to light as we are forced to bow humbly to the sublime Wisdom of God. It is only in learning to recognize Christ as He comes to us, and not as we wish to see Him, that we are able to know Him and follow Him in the light of Life. Through such Wisdom, transcending earthly knowledge and casting away all shadows, all error, heresy, false judgement, ignorance, and confusion flee. Only God remains.
