Seeing Pink

It's the third Sunday of Advent, and that means we light the pink candle. To this day I am thrilled when we light the pink candle, because it means that Christmas is just around the corner. The pink candle acts as a spark, a reality check --- HE IS REALLY COMING! REJOICE!

This Sunday is not meant to be a stress test, "Have you gotten everything done?" Instead, it is a reminder to re-focus and pay attention to what the season is all about, namely, getting ready for Jesus.  It somehow smiles at us in all its pinkness and asks us to put our joy in the Lord and enjoy the Lord. Enjoy His presence in your children, your family, your friends. Enjoy His presence in the natural beauty around us, and in the gift of time. Enjoy Him in your fond memories and in your cherished present. Do not let a moment pass where the lesser things of this world detract from the joy of knowing the Lord. Do not settle for the happiness of this life, when God wishes to give you the joy of eternity. Do not yearn for more, when Everything is yearning for you, your attention, your love.

Rejoice! Be Glad! The Kingdom of God is at hand.
