On the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, in Piazza di Spagna, the Holy Father (with the help of some firemen!) crowns Our Lady who stands atop an ancient pillar. Piazza di Spagna is a central location for shopping and gathering - buzzing this time of year with the normal electricity of consumerism. Yet, faithfully every year people gather to see the Immaculata crowned. Many stand in wonder, not knowing what is going on, and others have probably gone every year for decades. His message today was one of simple beauty, expressing and reminding us that the Immaculata is for everyone.
