We've arrived home from our pilgrimage to Marytown, and have been richly blessed. On the final night of the retreat, wuth some 60 young adults in adoration before the 5 foot monstrance, I was overwhelmed. The next day, when many of the young people totally consecrated themselves to the Immaculata, I was again struck by the magnificence of it all: THIS is what it means to be a Fr. Kolbe Missionary of the Immaculata. Souls of every age and background bowed in adoration before the King and completely committed to the mission of the Queen. Trusting them. Loving them. Serving Them.
No road trip is too long to have the honor of taking part in the adoration of God, consecration to Our Lady, and the transformation of souls. Yet, our vocation (and life in general) is basically road trip! It is sometimes uncomfortable and even annoying. At times the night is thick and at others the sun blindingly bright. We have to make frequent stops along the way, ask when we need and accomodate others when they need. We must look for Christ in every place along the way, keeping our eyes open for the gorgeous sunsets, the little churches, and the giant crosses that come along the way. People who just "happen" to be in the same car, become brothers and sisters in Christ - just because they shared a portion of the road with you in rather tight circumstances. Finally, the journey is good and beautiful, but the destination outshines everything that led up to it.
Jesus waiting for us... in Marytown.
