VIVO CRISTO REY

You'll notice on the right "SAINT OF THE DAY". This is a link to audio and short written biographies of the saints of the day - courtesy of St. Anthony's Messenger. Awesome stuff. In just a few days, November 23rd, you will find at the top of the list "Blessed Miguel Pro".  He was 36 years' old. He died with his arms outstretched and a bullet tearing through his flesh. On his lips were the words: VIVO CRISTO REY!

Long live Christ the King!  Yet, somehow the English just doesn't capture the sentiment.

Long live Christ the King! Really, was not a shout of desperation, nor an appeal that He may somehow always remain. No, this cry that has echoed through the decades was an expressed conviction, a shout of triumph, a soul's plea to the flesh to remember, a heart's admonition to the violent and forgetful: CHRIST THE KING LIVES.  Christ the King was Blessed Miguel's hope... not the government, not the affluent, not success, not something to come, not something that was. The King, alive yesterday, today, and always, was Blessed Miguel's hope. And, he must be ours as well.

CHRIST THE KING LIVES. He is the King of the Universe, and Mary is Queen. So today, on this final Sunday of Ordinary time, let us turn to the example of our brother Miguel Pro and ask for the grace to live in Their Kingdom. How? By allowing them to reign in our hearts, by unting our will to their Majesties and opening ourselves to humility's transforming power.  Then, and only then, will we carry that Kingdom with us wherever we go. Then, and only then, will the misunderstanding turned to disdain turned to hatred cease. Then, and only then, will borders exist only in the dust. Then, and only then, will the creativity of love give way to a civilization of love.

CHRIST, KING OF THE UNIVERSE, have Mercy on us!
IMMACULATE, QUEEN OF THE UNIVERSE, pray for us!
Our Lady of Guadalupe, Empress of the Americas, pray for us!
Our Lady the Immaculate Conception, Patroness of the USA, pray for us!
St. Maximilian Kolbe, Pray for us!
Blessed Miguel Pro, Pray for us!
