As we know he was fulfilling a dream: a ride of 15,534.28 miles from Usuhaia (Argentina) to northern Alaska. He demonstrated to the public that diabetes is not a limit to life, and raised awareness of the Institute (Fr. Kolbe Missionaries) and of the missionaries' ministry to the poor in South America.
Today, we remember a quote from Mauro to inspire us on our own journey:
"Prayer is my strength. Mine contain joy, suffering, interiority, and at the same time they are an ongoing challenge in the awareness of my own limitations. I journey alone by choice, but I am never alone! They are with me: the bike, diabetes, Jesus, Mary, and now all of you! " - Mauro
So we seek Mauro's intercession to be aware of our own limitations, and to embrace them as companions on the journey, with Jesus, Mary, and our brothers and sisters in Christ! We continue to entrust Mauro to the mercy of the Father, we support his family with prayer and affection, and we entrust ourselves to the intercession of this cyclist and missionary, who according to the thought of St. Maximilian Kolbe, now works from heaven with both hands
