Pope Francis: Don't be an NGO (what?)!

Finally, I had a chance to read a bit about our new beloved Pontiff. (Isn't it remarkable that we've only heard his name and seen him in white and he is already "beloved!") My first impression: YES! This needs no translation for teens. Until I got to the fourth or so paragraph. I assume that I'm not the only one who didn't know what an NGO was, but if I'm wrong, just consider that God wants you to think twice about this.

"Third, professing: we can walk as much we want, we can build many things, but if we do not confess Jesus Christ, nothing will avail. We will become a compassionate NGO, but not the Church, the Bride of Christ."

So, what is an NGO? Basically, just a nice group of people. According to a nice group of people's site, they are non-governmental organizations that are "task-oriented and driven by people with a common interest, NGOs perform a variety of service and humanitarian functions, bring citizen concerns to Governments, advocate and monitor policies and encourage political particpation through provision of information."

We can be a nice group, or we can be the Bride of Christ. We can be nice or holy, on the right track or already on the Way, feel good about what we do for others, or suffer for love of them. Its that simple, we can't deny it.

Pope Francis has begun with words as loving and simple as his lifestyle is rumored to have been in Argentina. In vain will we say "I don't understand," let it not be in vain that we say "I couldn't do it."
