The questions has been asked: "Why did St. Maximilian give up his life?" The response: "Because that's what you do when you love." So often we look for secrets and easy "how-to" game plans, but the reality is that to be a hero, to be great, to be a saint: We have to love. Everyone.
Love is not just a feeling. Love is not just and idea. Love is active, creative, and transforming. Love makes friends of enemies, houses homes, the impossible possible, God to man. Why did St. Max give his life? Because he was one with the Lord, and that's what the Lord did for us. Why did the Lord die for us? Because he loves us. Its that simple. Let's not make it more complicated.Love is in the will. The Lord is present to us as source and summit of charity. The saints, like St. Maximilian, have shown the way. WILL To LOVE
, go out and make this the most loving lent you've ever lived.
Go out, and become a saint!
