Our Lady of Fatima and Our Mission

A mere 3 days after the Miracle of the Sun, on October 16, 1917 - the Militia of the Immaculata was founded in Rome.  They were small in number, only 7 men, but their vision was clear and the means definitive. I'd like to point out here, briefly, just how this definitive plan is a concrete answer to Our Lady's appeal in Fatima.

Our Lady
"Jesus wishes to establish devotion to my Immaculate Heart in the world. I promise salvation to those who embrace it."

"Sacrifice yourselves for sinners and say often whenever you make a sacrifice: 'O Jesus, it is for love of You, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.' "

"Pray the Rosary every day in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary to obtain peace in the world . . . for she alone can save it."

Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, "I will never abandon you, my child. My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God."

Father Kolbe
To work for the conversion to God of all men, be they sinners, or non-Catholics or unbelievers, in particular (the enemies of the Church); and that all become saints, under the patronage and through the mediation of the Immaculate Virgin.

To pray, to do penance, to offer God the daily works and sufferings of life; to invoke the Immaculate, possibly every day, with this ejaculation: "O Mary Conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to You, and for all who do not have recourse to You, especially the enemies of the Holy Church and those recommended to You."

Though not explicitly stated in the original program of the MI, St. Maximilian's promotion of the rosary is clear, as posted on October 7th: Recite a third of the rosary daily at home… It is to the advantage of those in greatest need

To consecrate oneself entirely to the Immaculate Virgin, placing oneself freely as a docle and generous instrument in her hands.

It is important to note a few particular similarities: Both are centered on God. St. Maximilian says "to work for the conversion to God" and "to offer to God the daily sufferings, etc" Our Lady's words were just as clear: "Jesus wishes to establish", "O Jesus it is for the love of You", and finally "lead you to God." At the same time the powerful mediation of Our Lady, particularly in virtue of her IMMACULATE HEART, is emphasized.  Both call to prayer, penance, conversion, and consecration.

So, what's the big deal? Friar Kolbe was in Rome, and makes no reference to the Miracle of the Sun. Yet, the Spirit moved him to found the MI only 3 days after the apparitions in Fatima stopped.  THINK!!! The Spirit, through His Spouse the Immaculata, and through his servant Maximilian offered to the world a distinct, organized, universal means for fulfilling the desires of the Immaculate Heart as announced at Fatima.

Of course, the MI is not for everyone, but Our Lady is...as is total consecration. So, the questions I leave with you: Consecrated or not, MI or not...have you given yourself totally to Christ through Mary for the salvation of souls? If consecrated, are you living out your consecration faithfully? If MI, are you sharing the gift and the legacy? What can we do, together, to bring about the reign of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary?
