Welcome to our new blog!!!

+M

As stated in the blog description above, this blog claims to be unique as well as common. The truth is that it must be, if it is to be a just reflection of the Fr. Kolbe Missionaries of the Immaculata and our mission here in the United States of America. As an invitation to follow this blog, let me explain a little bit further.

We are consecrated women. At 28 years-old I've given my life to God... every single aspect of it. Of course, I fight with Him at times, and I try to hold things back, but I've made a vow to surrender all to Him, and most importantly to accept Him as my All. I gave Him my life in the form of a three-fold offering known as the evangelical counsels: poverty, chastity, and obedience.  Now while a gift of self, these counsels are actually a gift to me, because through them I am able fulfill my baptismal promises, and am drawn near to the Heart of Christ.

Specifically as a Fr. Kolbe Missionary of the Immaculata I live this vocation through and with the Immaculata - the Blessed Virgin Mary. Why? The evangelical counsels are undertaken in imitation of Christ: poor, obedient, and chaste. As a Fr. Kolbe Missionary I formally imitate Christ by going to Him the way He came to us, and while accepting the gifts of the evangelical counsels, I also accept the gift He gave us on the Cross: His Mother.

So, this is all a bit unique. Blogs aren't often posted by consecrated-lay women. Blogs aren't often posted by missionaries in California. Blogs aren't often posted by hearts on fire with love of the Immaculata. Blogs are never, until now, posted by Fr. Kolbe Missionaries of the Immaculata.

Yet, we are normal people. As members of a  secular institute, our mission is to be right alongside of every one of you in our pursuit of sanctity. I wear jeans and t-shirts, love ice cream, jog, melt at the sight of babies, and get ticked off regularly, frusterated with myself and failing social structures, and am often flabbergasted by the sheer Goodness of God.

I invite you to join me, then, throughout this year as we look at the world together through the eyes of the Church, our Mother, and St. Maximilian Kolbe. Discover a few insights, share your own, and see what it is to be an FKM.

I hope you will, for my well-being and yours, for our sanctity and the salvation of many souls! Paraphrasing St. Maximilian Kolbe: "It is true that one individual can greatly contribute to the salvation of souls, but brought together the fruits multiply and there is no telling how great the number will be!"
