Click to view short video clip: The Parents of Chiara testify to her joy in Christ!
St. Maximilian Kolbe noted in his youth: I can really be a saint, if only I will it.
Mother Theresa admonished those who attributed her holiness to the fact that she was "different", because she was a "saint". She warned that it is a title that we are all called to possess as followers of Christ.
Today, before the eyes of the world, Christ in His Church beatified a young 19 year old girl. Chiara (1971-1990) was sanctified by accepting life as Christ gave it to her; she was a girl who realized that her vocation was not be strong and perfect, but to be one with the Lord. She did not turn away from the pain that Christ asked her to endure, asking for a bodily healing that was not His will. Rather, this young hero, accepted the healing of her heart and offered the brokeness of her body - her humanity, her nothingness.
That, my dear friends, is THE recipe for sanctity, the recipe for HAPPINESS.
